Àkótán

English: according to adinkra.org, a traditional West African symbol (adinkra) with the meaning of gye nyame "except for God". Allegedly "ubiquitous in Ghana" and as such uncopyrightable (assuming it is "traditional" (although no date of origin seems to be stated) and counts as a "character"/"ideogram"). This png image uploaded in 2006 by User:KillOrDie.

A variant of this symbol is found (in the top right corner) in File:Adinkra motifs Rattray 1927.jpg (R S Rattray, Religion & art in Ashanti, 1927)

Español: Símbolo "Gye nyame"

Símbolo adinkra. Significado: "Gye nyame" (Gracias a Dios). Símbolo de la supremacía de Dios.
