Vincent van Gogh
Vincent Willem van Gogh (Àdàkọ:IPA-nl, English: /ˌvæn ˈɡɒx/;[note 1] 30 March 1853 – 29 July 1890) was a Dutch post-Impressionist painter whose work had a far-reaching influence on 20th century art for its vivid colors and emotional impact. He suffered from anxiety and increasingly frequent bouts of mental illness throughout his life and died, largely unknown, at the age of 37 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

In English it is pípè /ˌvæn ˈɡɒx/ or sometimes /ˌvæn ˈɡɒf/, especially in the UK, or /ˌvæn ˈɡoʊ/ with a silent gh, especially in the US. In standard Dutch, based on the dialect of Holland, it is Àdàkọ:IPA-nl, with a voiceless V. However, though Van Gogh's parents were from the Netherlands, he grew up in Brabant and used Brabant dialect in his writing; it is therefore likely that he himself pronounced his name with a Brabant accent: Àdàkọ:IPA-nl, with a voiced V and palatalized G and gh. In France, where much of his work was produced, it is [vɑ̃ ɡɔɡə]
