Usage

This template is designed to display the information on Egyptian pharaohs, including their names in Egyptian hieroglyphs. All but the name are optional, the parameters are as below (for a full example see Ramesses II).

Parameters used with this template
Parameter Function
name sets the common name of the pharaoh (mandatory)
alt_name sets any alternatives of the name (optional)
image sets image for the info box (try and 'use a headshot', if possible) (optional)
image_alt Alternative text for the image (optional)
caption Caption for the image (optional)
align sets the position of the template: left, center or right.
era sets the colours of the template by predefined era: see Template talk:Hiero.
nomen sets the Nomen – use <hiero></hiero> format, then the transliteration, and then translation (optional)
pronomen sets the Pronomen (See above) (optional)
golden sets the text of the Golden Horus name (optional)
nebty sets the text of the Nebty name (optional)
horus sets the text of the Horus (optional)
reign sets the dates of the reign (use alternatives, if known) (optional)
predecessor sets the predecessor of the king (optional)
successor sets the successor of the king (optional)
spouse sets the consort(s) (optional)
children sets any children of the king (optional)
dynasty sets the dynasty of the king (optional)
father sets the father of the king, if known (optional)
mother sets the mother of the king, if known (optional)
birth_date sets the year of birth (optional)
death_date sets the year of death (optional)
burial sets the place of burial, where the body was found, etc.(optional)
monuments sets any major well known monuments of the king (optional)
role sets the title of the box, defaults to Pharaoh of Egypt (optional)
golden_hiero sets the hieroglyphic Golden Horus name (See above) (optional)
nebty_hiero sets the hieroglyphic Nebty name (See above) (optional)
horus_hiero sets the hieroglyphic Horus (See above) (optional)

Microformat

The HTML markup produced by this template includes an hCard microformat, which makes the person's details parsable by computers, either acting automatically to catalogue articles across Wikipedia or via a browser tool operated by a reader, to (for example) add the subject to an address book or database. For more information about the use of microformats on Wikipedia, please see the microformat project.

Sub-templates

Date-of-birth ("bday") information will only be included in the microformat if {{birth date}}, {{birth date and age}}, {{birth-date}} or {{birth-date and age}} are used in the infobox. (but do not use these if the date is before 1583).

To include a URL, use {{URL}}.

Please do not remove instances of these sub-templates.
