Guidelines
àtúnṣe- When a WEBSITE is added, do not include "
http://
" in the URL. For example,http://www.porbandarcity.info
must be entered as...
website = www.porbandarcity.info
- If you see "expression error" messages, remove all commas and other punctuation from inputted numbers. Numeric inputs must be raw and unformatted (i.e., without commas, spaces, symbols, and references—1234 and not 1,234).
- If you see random strings of alphanumeric characters (e.g., "UNIQ1a90b62f53 ..."), separate out non-numeric material (e.g., references, notes, comments, etc.) and add them to the proper "cite" field (e.g., in
area_total_cite
, not inarea_total
). - Raw values will be automatically formatted (using commas) by the template.
- All parameters are optional; the template can also be used to display only a locator map and/or caption.
- For other issues, post a comment or question on the talk page.
Troubleshooting
àtúnṣe- Infobox how-to
- For a list of infobox parameters, see the parameters section.
- For copyable and empty infobox code, see the code section.
- For help in finding missing information, see the resources section.
- Locator maps
- SVG locator maps are auto-selected whenever coordinates are provided; the specific map is based on state/metro name provided and has a locator dot placed on it.
- The maps are provided by the WikiProject Indian maps. Questions, issues, and requests can be posted on either the Indian maps talk page or on the general India-related talk page.
- If a locator map is not displaying properly, try the following:
- Click on the image to go to the main image page on the Wikimedia Commons.
- Make a hard reload (Ctrl+F5 in Internet Explorer, or Shift+Control+R in Mozilla Firefox and Opera), in order to purge the image cache.
- Follow the directions under the "SVG Support" section by clicking on the "Tryx" links under the "View [large|medium] PNG" fields. You may need to play around with "a/ab" (by changing it to "a/a1", "a/a2", "b/a1", etc.) to force it to rasterise.
- Once it displays, try the reloading with original/main image page url and its should display.
- Please post unsolved issues to the Indian maps talk page.

Microformat
àtúnṣeThe HTML mark up produced by this template includes an hCard microformat, which makes the place-name and location parsable by computers, either acting automatically to catalogue article across Wikipedia, or via a browser tool operated by a person, to (for example) add the subject to an address book. Within the hCard is a Geo microformat, which additionally makes the coordinates (latitude & longitude) parsable, so that they can be, say, looked up on a map, or downloaded to a GPS unit. For more information about the use of microformats on Wikipedia, please see the microformat project.
hCard uses HTML classes including:
- "adr"
- "county-name"
- "fn"
- "label"
- "locality"
- "nickname"
- "note"
- "org"
- "vcard"
Geo is produced by calling {{coord}}, and uses HTML classes hCard uses HTML classes including:
- "geo"
- "latitude"
- "longitude"
Please do not rename or remove these classes.

Coordinates
àtúnṣeMany India-related articles lack geographic coordinates. Coordinates allow {{Infobox Indian jurisdiction}} to display a locator map showing the place's location in India. See WikiProject Indian maps for details.
Using Wikimapia
àtúnṣe- Follow this link and replace "PLACENAME" with the place's name and "STATENAME" with the state or union territory.
- Once coordinates are found, add
|latd=yy.yyy |longd=xx.xxx
to the article's infobox code (replaceyy.yyy
andxx.xxx
with the latitude and longitude found). - Both the decimalised format (e.g.,
|latd=22.5
) and the degree-minute-second format (|latd=22 |latm=30 |lats=00
) are acceptable.
