Florin Àrúbà
àtúnṣeHello Wikicology, this link (Florin Àrúbà) is no spam. This page is linked in many Wikis in other languages (for exemple in (en), (es), (de), (fr), ... Regards, Frank
- Frank, the addition of link like this across many project may be considered disruptive. Just as Oníṣe:Savh rightfully pointed out, the link states "All presented banknotes belong to the series, which was in circulation during my stay on Aruba (2015). The collection does not claim to completeness or timeliness.", which to me clearly indicate that the source is nothing but a spam link. I urge you to refrain from adding this to Wikipedia. I am going to revert your edits on other Wikis where you added the link. I am sorry for any inconveniences that may arise. Wikicology (ọ̀rọ̀) 22:08, 7 Oṣù Kẹfà 2016 (UTC)
- Hello Wikicology, thanks for the quick answer. To undo the linking is your good right as administrator of this site. But, I can assure that I have thoroughly checked the page prior to linking. There are definitifly no links to commercial sites. The disputed footnote at the bottom of the page ("All presented banknotes belong to the series, which resulting in circulation during my stay on Aruba (2015). The collection does not claim to completeness or timeliness.") I think is a kind of disclaimer. It tells the time, the banknotes were locally in circulation (2015) and it indicates that there may be other banknotes of Arbua, they might not seen on the page. Regards, Frank
- PS: You should check my second change on the page again. The Florin is not a currency of Africa, but an America's currency.
- First off, I am not an administrator on Yoruba Wikipedia. That being said, I do not see how the statement "All presented banknotes belong to the series, which resulting in circulation during my stay on Aruba (2015). The collection does not claim to completeness or timeliness." is a disclaimer. I repeat, your addition of this particular link across one or more Wikipedia project is troubling. You are welcome to replace the source with a valid one. Thank you. Wikicology (ọ̀rọ̀) 07:07, 8 Oṣù Kẹfà 2016 (UTC)
- PS: You should check my second change on the page again. The Florin is not a currency of Africa, but an America's currency.
Father's Prayer in Tsonga
àtúnṣeHi Wikicology, just want to let you know, I've added this section to 25 individual wiki's today, but you are the only one who wants to revert it! If you want it referenced, please read your Bible. Aliwal2012 (ọ̀rọ̀) 16:48, 16 Oṣù Kẹfà 2016 (UTC)
- I am not sure I understand what you mean by "read your Bible". Do you mean it was written in the Bible? Wikicology (ọ̀rọ̀) 17:24, 16 Oṣù Kẹfà 2016 (UTC)
- Yes. Aliwal2012 (ọ̀rọ̀)17:24, 16 Oṣù Kẹfà 2016 (UTC)
- Cite it and I will verify it. Let me know if you need help citing this source. Wikicology (ọ̀rọ̀) 17:24, 16 Oṣù Kẹfà 2016 (UTC)
- Yes. Aliwal2012 (ọ̀rọ̀)17:24, 16 Oṣù Kẹfà 2016 (UTC)
- The prayer in Matthew 6:9–13 in English reads:
- Our Father in heaven,
- hallowed be your name.
- Your kingdom come,
- your will be done,
- on earth, as it is in heaven.
- Give us this day our daily bread,
- and forgive us our debts,
- as we also have forgiven our debtors.
- And lead us not into temptation,
- but deliver us from evil. Amen.
- In the english wiki it is referenced as:
- By the way, why do you think the bible verse should be included in the article, Èdè Tsonga? Wikicology (ọ̀rọ̀) 17:37, 16 Oṣù Kẹfà 2016 (UTC)
- Why are you changing the topic now? I gave you the citation, can u please tell me if is useable before I include it in the article?
- Aliwal2012 (ọ̀rọ̀) 17:50, 16 Oṣù Kẹfà 2016 (UTC)
- I am sorry, the contents are not relevant to the article. I am struggling to see why this should be included in that article. Can you tell me the relevance of the Bible passage to the article? Honestly, I am willing to help but I am not sure of why the contents should be included. Wikicology (ọ̀rọ̀) 17:57, 16 Oṣù Kẹfà 2016 (UTC)
- I came across the example of the prayer in Tsonga on the Netherlands wiki today, and thought it to be a good idea to include it on other wiki's Tsonga article. The text of the prayer is shown as an example of the use of the Tsonga language, relating to a well-known English prayer. Its not about the contents of the prayer, it is quoted purely as a Tsonga language example! Hope this clarifies my intention to you. Aliwal2012 (ọ̀rọ̀) 18:09, 16 Oṣù Kẹfà 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for your willingness to help improve Wikipedia but unfortunately, the inclusion of this text to the article does not make any sense to me. Bible is written in different languages including English, Yoruba, French, Deutsch and several other languages. Just because a version of Tsonga language was written is not enough for you to start including Bible verses to Wikipedia to validate the existence of Tsonga language. Cross-wiki inclusion of text like this may be considered disruptive. I strongly suggest that you refrain from adding this text to Wikipedia. I am sure the folks at en-wiki would have reverted your edit if you already included the text there. Wikicology (ọ̀rọ̀) 18:29, 16 Oṣù Kẹfà 2016 (UTC)

Hello TWL coordinators! After much contemplation and planning, The Wikipedia Library has decided to move forward its longtime desire of bringing together Wikipedians and librarians by creating an user group. The user group is yet to be recognized by the Affiliations Committee, but you are welcome to sign up as a member by adding your name in the user group meta page. Once you do that, please join the discussion in deciding the user group name, logo, and organizers. You can even volunteer to lead the group! And of course please don't forget to invite your community and friends! The user group intends to,
- provide guidance for Wikimedians engaging with libraries, and libraries engaging with Wikimedia,
- provide a venue for the exchange of ideas around collaborations and opportunities for Wikimedia and libraries,
- work with libraries and library information schools promoting the use of Wikipedia in their curriculum, and
- reach out to libraries that could potentially engage with Wikimedia.
Join us and help spread the news! Thank you, AVasanth (WMF) via, MediaWiki message delivery (ọ̀rọ̀) 20:03, 17 Oṣù Kẹta 2017 (UTC)

The Wikipedia Library Global Coordinators Meeting
àtúnṣe The Wikipedia Library – Global Coordinators Meeting
- The Wikipedia Library coordinators meeting is an opportunity for TWL branch coordinators to talk about various ideas, programs, problems, and events about TWL. We will have an agenda to cover at first, followed by an unconference-style discussion.
- This meeting is a chance for all global coordinators to have an open discussion, provide updates, share information and learnings from their branches, work on issues, and discuss successes, progress, goals, do’s and don'ts, and anything else!
- Members from the TWL team at WMF will be there to help facilitate and answer questions. We are interested in hearing from you about what you’re working on and what’s working!
PS: The meeting happens on IRC, in the channel #wikipedia-library on Freenode. KiwiIRC reveals your IP address. Please read this meta page and apply for a cloak in advance (preferably at least a week before) if this is an issue.

I think
àtúnṣeThat you should apology to Jielle about this.
The images are categorized Kwara_State. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Kwara_State
The article is about Kwara State
So, maybe you are NOT happy with her adding images, but the comment irrelevant images randomly to articles is just plain disrespectful. Maybe you do not like those images categorized Kwara_State to be in the article about Kwara_State. But this is in no way irrelevant and certainly not random. Please consider apologies for the rude comment. Really Anthere (ọ̀rọ̀) 17:20, 13 Oṣù Kejìlá 2017 (UTC)
- Anthere, how is maybe you are NOT happy with her adding images a logical argument? I and Jielle have worked together on Wikimedia Commons and I enjoyed working with them. So, this is not about Jielle but about those images. Categorizing images as Nigeria does not necessarily mean that you will add a bunch of those images to the article "Nigeria". Nothing shows the relationship between the images and the subject of the article other than the images was categorized Kwara State on Commons. Regards. Wikicology (ọ̀rọ̀) 17:54, 13 Oṣù Kejìlá 2017 (UTC)
- The first image I can see in the category now is the image of the Governor of Kwara State. I am talking about File:Abdulfatah Ahmed at PGLS 2.jpg. If this image was used with the caption "Abdulfatah Ahmed, the Governor of Kwara State", I doubt anyone would remove it. The only edit I could make to it is translating it into Yoruba. Wikicology (ọ̀rọ̀) 18:00, 13 Oṣù Kejìlá 2017 (UTC)
Ipinle Kwara
àtúnṣeI will revert your edit back to Ipinle Kwara. There was already a redirect from Kwara State to Ipinle Kwara so changing the title to English is not necessary and its spelled Kwara not Kuara even in Yoruba. Thanks Demmy (ọ̀rọ̀) 17:24, 13 Oṣù Kejìlá 2017 (UTC)
- I know that Kwara State was redirected to Ipinle Kwara but I doubt anyone would search the title in Yoruba language for multiple reasons. There is no Yoruba keyboard on major devices e.g computer desktops, laptops used in Nigeria. Thus, no one would have look for Ipinle Yoruba with the diacritical marks on Google or other search engine. The implication is that people will not be able to read it. Our encyclopedia becomes useless if people cannot look out topics to read on it. I don't know of if you are seeing it from that direction, so I am not going to revert you. I'll rather copy the correct contents into your version of the article title. Regards. Wikicology (ọ̀rọ̀) 18:18, 13 Oṣù Kejìlá 2017 (UTC)

Offline version of Yoruba Wikipedia
àtúnṣeHello,
James told me there's an offline version of internet-in-a-box getting ready for shipping in Nigeria, and that they wanted to include the Yoruba Wikipedia, which is a great idea (I'm one of the Kiwix guys, btw)
We've started to simplify the start pages and make them simpler, more offline-friendly: we remove links that do not work offline, dates that would be meaningless months later (generating a zim file is like taking a snapshot, and users get tired of seeing the same picture of the day shown forever on the landing page).
To that effect I've prepared quick, Yoruba-specific landing page: User:Stephane_(Kiwix)/Landing. Would you be willing to translate it?
The initial text comes from the English wiki but at the end of the day please make it yours: remove links that do not exist, add new ones, etc., so that it does look nice and friendly enough (but please no new images for the time being as long as we haven't got the CSS right).
Any questions? -> drop me a note!
Thanks a million, Stephane (Kiwix) (talk) 08:26, 28 March 2018 (UTC)
- This is to acknowledge your message with thanks. I'll review and comment later. Regards Wikicology (ọ̀rọ̀) 07:54, 29 Oṣù Kẹta 2018 (UTC)
#1Lib1Ref from The Wikipedia Library
àtúnṣe#1Lib1Ref, the annual campaign where librarians add references to improve Wikipedia, is coming back again this year, running from May 15th to June 5th, 2018.
- Why twice? We heard from you a desire to run it again out of excitement, because May is not summer vacation for the southern hemisphere, and because Spanish Wikipedia's birthday also falls in May. This is a great expansion of the event and it means that there is another opportunity to make Wikipedia more factual and verifiable by leveraging the expertise of librarians around the world.
- How does this relate to the main campaign in January? We encourage librarians, community members, and affiliates to make 1Lib1Ref their own. So whether we call this 1Lib1Ref May, 1Lib1Ref for the Southern Hemisphere, or 1Lib1Ref Strikes Back, the point is the excitement is building again, and we'd like you to be a part of it.
- If I participated in January, do I have to do it again in May? It's entirely up to you, this is just another chance if you want to do more, or if you couldn't get around to January activities. This is a pilot for us, too, so we'll see how it goes and discuss what we learned after the May campaign.
- How can you get involved?
- See updated dates and details at the meta 1Lib1Ref page
- See the Spanish Wikipedia campaign page for 1bib1ref
- Helpful multimedia (logos, videos, flyers, stickers) at Category:1lib1ref (commons)

Adminship
àtúnṣeGreetings,
I am requesting adminship on the Yoroba Wikipedia. Even though I'm I've only joined a few days ago (only on this wiki), I am an experienced editor (editing since early 2017). I've worked at the pih:Wikipedia and jam:Wikipedia I'm just asking for adminship, for only six months (where I'll work in the area of reverting vandalism), and improving stub articles. Thanks!

àtúnṣeHoi, when I am finished, you can move all of them to a place of your choosing.. the best part is that if everything works out you will receive updates once a day based on the information in Wikidata. Thanks, GerardM (ọ̀rọ̀) 12:11, 22 Oṣù Kàrún 2018 (UTC)
The Wikipedia Library Global Coordinators Meeting
àtúnṣe The Wikipedia Library – Global Coordinators Meeting
- The Wikipedia Library Global Coordinators Meeting is a bi-monthly meeting held to improve communication and collaboration amongst all global coordinators and the TWL team.
- In this meeting it'd be great if you can present us with what happened in your branches in the past two months. That'll be our first agenda. And then we'll follow the set agenda like the previous meeting which will be shared with you during the session.
- As always members from the TWL team at WMF will be there to help facilitate and answer questions. We are interested in hearing from you about what you’re working on and what’s working!
PS: The publicly-logged meeting happens on IRC, in the channel #wikipedia-library on Freenode. KiwiIRC reveals your IP address. Please read this meta page and apply for a cloak in advance (preferably at least a week before) if this is an issue.
For any questions or suggestions, please contact avasanth [at] wikimedia [dot] org. Thank you, Aaron, via --MediaWiki message delivery (ọ̀rọ̀) 15:53, 22 Oṣù Kẹfà 2018 (UTC)

Page improvement needed
àtúnṣeGreetings, T! You may have noticed my daily "Wiki-gnomework" edits to help improve the YO WP (without knowing the language). Today I sent you thanks for contributing to a recently created page, and now I'm asking for your review there. I've written the particulars in Ọ̀rọ̀:Zainab Ashadu#Subject of page, also alerting the page creator and its main contributor. Please pardon my writing in English here and there. -- Cheers, Deborahjay (ọ̀rọ̀) 10:04, 14 Oṣù Kẹ̀sán 2018 (UTC)

- Àdàkọ:Infobox television (created by you on 25 Oṣù Kẹ̀wá 2018)
- Àdàkọ:Infobox Television (created by Oníṣe:Maarcis on 25 Oṣù Kọkànlá 2009)

#1Lib1Ref May 2019
àtúnṣe The Wikipedia Library – #1Lib1Ref
#1Lib1Ref, the annual campaign where librarians add references to improve Wikipedia, is back for another round, running from May 15th to June 5th, 2019.
- Not every part of the world is in sync, more particularly the southern and northern hemispheres. While the January version of the #1lib1ref campaign works well mostly for the northern hemisphere, it doesn't for the countries below the equator. Hence #1lib1ref May! This is a great expansion of the event and it means that there is another opportunity to make Wikipedia more factual and verifiable by leveraging the expertise of librarians around the world.
- While this campaign encourages participation from the southern hemisphere, we would love for you to join us even if you participated in the January campaign – after all, Wikipedia is only as strong as its references! So whether we call this 1Lib1Ref May, 1Lib1Ref for the Southern Hemisphere, or 1Lib1Ref Strikes Back, the point is the excitement is building again, and we'd like you to be a part of it.

#1Lib1Ref January 2020
àtúnṣe The Wikipedia Library – #1Lib1Ref
#1Lib1Ref is happening again from January 15th through February 5th!
From January 15th to February 5th we will be joining together around the world to make Wikipedia more reliable. You can participate in #1Lib1Ref by simply adding a citation to Wikipedia's content!
That's all we ask and imagine: a world in which every librarian (or archivist, reference professional, and scholar) adds 1 more reference to Wikipedia. This is the fifth year of the #1Lib1Ref campaign and we couldn’t be more excited to support another year of activities.
- If you are planning to host a coffee hour or a edit-a-thon focused on #1Lib1Ref, and you need funding for the event, you will be able to apply for a Rapid Grant. For the best chance of approval, requests should be made in the month of November, since requests related to #1Lib1Ref will be given priority by the Grants team during November.
- You can make sure your contribution is counted by using the Program and Events Dashboard for your event, institution, or region, and using the #1Lib1Ref hashtag in your edit summary. Login to start a new event or join an existing one for the January campaign.
- You can join the 1Lib1Ref community via the Wikimedia & Libraries, and 1Lib1Ref mailing lists, or by joining the Wikimedia and Libraries User Group.
Full resources and guides for participating are available on the campaign page.

Gallery images display too large
àtúnṣeGreetings, T Cells! Here's a specific problem I tried to solve and failed. The two pages Ilé and Fèrèsé have image galleries copied from those pages on the English WP. However, here in the Yoruba WP the image displays are much too large. I'd appreciate your help fixing this. -- Deborahjay (ọ̀rọ̀) 13:25, 28 Oṣù Kejì 2020 (UTC)

àtúnṣeIt would be helpful to have the Template:Unsigned here in the Yoruba WP. This is something I don't know how to add, so I'm bringing it to your attention. -- Cheers, Deborahjay (ọ̀rọ̀) 10:04, 29 Oṣù Kejì 2020 (UTC)
- Deborahjay try {{O kò tíì buwọ́ lùú|Username}}. Please remember to replace "Username" with the user's real username. Please let me know if it works. Regards. T CellsTalk 12:20, 29 Oṣù Kejì 2020 (UTC)
- I strongly support using Yoruba naming for all types of pages. This template and its use are highly familiar to me, so I can always find the exact name via Wikidata (my translation go-to). And hey! maybe we'll never need to use it here again because all future contributors will always sign and date their comments ;-) -- Deborahjay (ọ̀rọ̀) 14:02, 29 Oṣù Kejì 2020 (UTC)
How to promote this?
àtúnṣeAs you may know, March is Women's History Month, so I used the w:Category:Yoruba women in politics to create a "Women in Red" list for the Yoruba WP. (Yes, it probably already exists but I was in a hacking mood...!) For now it's at Ọ̀rọ̀ oníṣe:Deborahjay#List of Yoruba Women in Politics (from en.WP). Some questions for you:
- Would this interest the AOCED workshop participants?
- Does the Yoruba UG have a discussion page?
- How can we promote this?
I already started going through the existing pages (links in blue) for my usual categorizing, DEFAULTSORT, format cleanup, etc. Let me know your thoughts. -- Cheers, Deborahjay (ọ̀rọ̀) 21:20, 5 Oṣù Kẹta 2020 (UTC)
- Hello Deborahjay, I am excited about this idea and I think the AOCED workshop participants would find it interesting. The Yoruba Wikimedians User group have a mailing list and you can also leave a message for the group here. We can promote it on the participants WhatsApp group, social media and the likes. I apologize for my slow response. I have been terribly busy at work. Regards. T CellsTalk 12:49, 6 Oṣù Kẹta 2020 (UTC)

Hello Deb, how are you? All schools in Nigeria would be closed by Monday. The Coronavirus pandemic is really serious. I hope you are doing fine. ... Regards. T CellsTalk 19:17, 19 Oṣù Kẹta 2020 (UTC)
- Doing well enough here, thank you. We seniors have already stayed at home all week by order of the Ministry of Health. Our kibbutz being a communally run village, neighborhood volunteers did our grocery shopping and the on-site medical clinic keeps its schedule with a family or children's doctor several hours a day and nurses with weekday shifts and home visits. So long as we have electricity I can maintain connections with family, friends, and of course WP. Our local Western Galilee He.WP users group had its first meetup yesterday on Zoom, with all seven participants! Plenty of editing to do at home. We mainly worry about the capability of Israel's overloaded public health system holding up to the demands on it, and especially the workers who have long hours and are starting to lack protective gear. Hoping all communities get through this as well as possible, and that we keep our humanity active throughout. -- Cheers, Deborahjay (ọ̀rọ̀) 16:53, 20 Oṣù Kẹta 2020 (UTC)
Egypt
àtúnṣeI understand that there is no direct translation from Egypt to Yoruba but I feel that if you divide the syllables of Egypt E|gy|pt|, the E in egypt most sounds like the I in Yoruba, according to the IPA, g is most like j, and there is a p in the Yoruba language, but it is just pronounced like kp, like most Niger-Congo languages. I feel that it is better to properly and phonetically display the words since they are not of Yoruba origin. Its just like Chinese, words not native to Chinese are transliterated by corresponding the syllables of English to those of that are the closest to that of Chinese. Thanks, Oniwe 17:15, 24 Oṣù Kẹta 2020 (UTC)
- Sorry, I meant to say that p is pronounced as pk for example "Ìrètí pípẹ́". There is no /p/ in Yoruba phonology. The phonemic representation of p in Yoruba language is /kp/. It's better left as " Egypt" in my opinion. T CellsTalk 17:27, 24 Oṣù Kẹta 2020 (UTC)
- Yes I understand, I could see that leaving as Egypt is better since its not really Yoruba. Thanks for the clarification. Oniwe 15:55, 24 Oṣù Kẹta 2020 (UTC)

Yoruba spelling of country names on pages and categories
àtúnṣeGreetings, "T"! I need your advice. Following the recent discussions of spelling Egypt, I started making the related category name changes as you approved. Then at one point I looked at Ẹ̀ka:Àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè Europe - where many (almost all! besides Georgia with the G...) page and category names are written with diacritic letters. My impression is that for now I should stick with biography pages and categories, where there is plenty of work for me. What do you think? -- Cheers, Deborahjay (ọ̀rọ̀) 20:19, 25 Oṣù Kẹta 2020 (UTC)

Protection against IP vandals
àtúnṣeDear Admin: This same page... I wrote a particular suggestion on its Talk page. If you know of something better, I'd like to see what works. -- Cheers, Deborahjay (ọ̀rọ̀) 10:42, 3 Oṣù Kẹrin 2020 (UTC)
EDITED TO ADD: Here are my more specific but extensive points:
- Two pages are being repeatedly vandalized:
- My questions:
- Can the pages be protected for editing only by registered users (not IP accounts)? (Besides blocking user accounts)
- How to be sure that all the vandalism has been restored to the previous version having correct content?
- I only did a few individual ones when I noticed them because I don't have Rollback rights, which honestly I've only used on the Simple English WP and don't really understand. I feel obliged to keep raising this situation until it's cleared. Thank you! -- Deborahjay (ọ̀rọ̀) 11:43, 3 Oṣù Kẹrin 2020 (UTC)
- Done. But frankly, we cannot adequately fight vandalism on the project without the rollback tool. I don't even have it as part of my admin toolset because it's not localize here. I am going to start a discussion for it to be localized here and give admin the privilege to also be able to assign it to experience users who needs the tool to fight vandalism. Regards. T CellsTalk 13:02, 3 Oṣù Kẹrin 2020 (UTC)
- Indeed! Recently (08:59, 28 Oṣù Kẹta 2020), User:WhitePhosphorus of the Small Wiki Monitoring Team performed a rollback of vandalism on one of the targeted pages here. I believe recent increased activity in the Yo WP justifies its Admins getting better equipped with enhanced tools to streamline routine tasks in favor of focus on building the WP. -- Deborahjay (ọ̀rọ̀) 14:33, 3 Oṣù Kẹrin 2020 (UTC)

Weekly featured article
àtúnṣeHello Isaac. I hope you are doing well. I have reformatted the weekly featured article you edited containing the article Ìjìnnà-síra-ẹni láwùjọ here: Wikipedia:Àyọkà ọ̀ṣẹ̀ 42 ọdún 2020 and will appear on the front page on week 42 starting on Monday October 12, 2020. The template {{Ayoka Ose/8}} containing the aricle Genevieve Nnaji is a placeholder in case there is no new weekly featured article. The correct weekly featured article should take the form Wikipedia:Àyọkà ọ̀ṣẹ̀ X ọdún Y as above where X is the week and Y the year. I think we have enough good articles on the Yoruba Wikipedia now and maybe we can create a suggestion page for a new weekly featured article each week. Demmy (ọ̀rọ̀) 12:04, 11 Oṣù Kẹ̀wá 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you for this update @Demmy:. I strongly believe that weekly featured article on the main page could help to promote readership and you are right that we now have enough articles on the Yoruba Wikipedia that we can create a suggestion page for weekly featured articles. Could you start the suggestion page and share the link with me? Regards. T CellsTalk 13:10, 11 Oṣù Kẹ̀wá 2020 (UTC)

àtúnṣeHello.
Can you translate and upload the article en:Abortion in Azerbaijan in Yoruba Wikipedia?
Azerbaijan, along with China and Belarus, are the only countries in the world where abortion is legal until the 28th week (6th month). That is why, I think it is worthwile.
Can you also create the articles en:Health in Azerbaijan and en:Healthcare in Azerbaijan in Yoruba Wikipedia?

How we will see unregistered users
àtúnṣeHi!
You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.
If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.
We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.
Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

But I did not understand, in the Infobox person template I need to write "director" and "present" in English or in Yoruba? In the article about Clint Eastwood and other articles about directors, it is written in English, so I wrote it in English too. And what is the correct way to spell "director" in Yoruba? "Oludari" or "olùdarí"? Sorry for mistakes. Nikolai Kurbatov (ọ̀rọ̀) 12:51, 1 Oṣù Kẹ̀sán 2022 (UTC)
- None of the articles make a significant claim of notability and are still incoherent. I am going to delete them. Please do not recreate them. If they must have articles created about them, consider creating them on the English Wikipedia. AFAIK, you neither speak nor write in Yorùbà language. Please contribute these articles to language Wikipedia you speak fluently. Regards. T CellsTalk 12:56, 1 Oṣù Kẹ̀sán 2022 (UTC)
Hi, could you please review these deletion requests? Rschen7754 03:46, 17 Oṣù Kẹ̀wá 2022 (UTC)

Admin help required: inappropriate content in WP?
àtúnṣeGreetings, Isaac! There is some irregular-looking content added yesterday and today to the page Ọ̀rọ̀ oníṣe:ThyGourd. True, this is not a mainspace page but a User talk page, but does it belong in the Yoruba Wikipedia? The contributor seems to be that same user, Oníṣe:ThyGourd. I didn't mark it for deletion. Your advice is appreciated. Cheers Deborahjay (ọ̀rọ̀) 18:26, 25 Oṣù Kejìlá 2023 (UTC)
Admin attention req: two active trolls today
àtúnṣeẸ̀ka:Àwọn ojúewé fún ìparẹ́ kíákíá now has 9 pages, four from this morning! Two trolls using IP accounts created pages with offensive content (three in Polish language). I didn't take the time to send them warnings, according to the practice "Don't feed the trolls...!" Hope this catches you at a good time. Lookin' fine in Facebook! Best regards from Deborahjay (ọ̀rọ̀) 11:49, 3 Oṣù Kejì 2024 (UTC)
Blocked user is requesting review
àtúnṣeHello Isaac. This is @Demmy:. I hope you are doing well. A user @Taoheedah that you blocked is requesting a review. I am not aware of the issue with the user. Can you fill me in and if there is a possibility for review. Thanks Demmy (ọ̀rọ̀) 20:02, 26 Oṣù Kẹrin 2024 (UTC)
- Hello @Demmy , thank you for this information. The event that resulted in the block of this user is well documented here on their talk page. Let me give you the chronology of the problems. I first learned about this user’s disruptive editing in 2022 when they were making some sloppy edits such as this and this article (you can see that the mess remains there to date) and left a note on their talk page requesting that these articles should be fixed. This user completely ignored it, and continued the disruption. I assume good faith, with the hope that they are genuinely interested in the Yoruba Wikipedia community and become a productive editor if given a chance. A month later, another user (who is now an administrator), User:Agbalagba, left another message on their talk page expressing concerns about their contributions. This was also ignored and the disruption continued. Four months ago, or thereabout, another user, User:Ọmọladéabídèmí99 privately contacted them on the need to fix their disruptive articles/contributions, this user insulted her and in fact blocked her from contacting her ever again. The disruption continued afterward. Fast forward to last week. User:Agbalagba pinged her to another article she had edited, and asked her to fix her edits. Because she was not the one who created the article, but only edited the article, she was offended that she was pinged and claimed that she had been slandered. When I spotted that she never liked that she was pinged there by Agbalagba, I moved the discussion to her talk page, and in a bit to protect her from possible sanction when it was pretty obvious that they did not get the point, I left a comment on the discussion with the closing remark that “I believe that feedback has been given, lessons have been learned, and these would help you to improve. Let's get back to work.”. Sadly, this user again responded dismissively that they had not translated articles with machines without taking the feedback given by numerous editors and no actual commitment to fix their disruptive articles and edits were given.
- When they were asked why they had translated ... played as a midfielder for the Nigeria women's national football team as Elere naa ṣere fun team awọn obinrin, they responded that since I was the one who identified the wrong translation, I should provide the correct translation. At this point, it was clear to me that they were not here to build an encyclopaedia, and the disruption would continue anyway. So, I revoke their editing privilege here, with a block. I left their talk page open with the hope that they would use it to appeal their block after a demonstration of understanding of the problem. They were using the talk page to cast aspersions and make unfounded accusations, including calling me a "bully." Thus, I revoked the talk page access and left the "email channel" open to hear their appeal over email.
- In conclusion, I am not inclined to unblock this user until they demonstrate comprehension of the issues and retract all baseless accusations made against me and other users. Furthermore, I firmly object to any administrator considering an unblock for this user at this time. If we must consider a future appeal, they must show a strong commitment to fixing their disruptive contributions and show how they plan to avoid the behavior that resulted in their block. Best regards. T CellsTalk 21:10, 26 Oṣù Kẹrin 2024 (UTC)
